1: Warning

 

SECTION I. PREPARE FOR MESSIAH

 

I.        8th month, 2nd year of Darius (1)

Warning not to be like their fathers. (2-6)

 

II.      24th day, 11th month, 2nd year of Darius

A.      Eight visions to encourage rebuilding the temple.

1.        Three Horses. Bloodshed, Conquest and Death are at rest but God’s displeasure with the nations will be known. (7-18)

2.        Horns & Smiths.  The scatterers of Judah to be scattered. (18-21)

2: Measure

3.        Measuring line.  Those returning will overflow Jerusalem.

3: Priest

4.        High Priest.  Sanctification of the priesthood (3).  Seven eyes. (9)

4: Lamps

The “Branch” to come to be both priest and king. (12-13) [MESSIAH]

 

7: Attitude

III.    4th year of Darius, 4th day, 9th month.

Questions On Fasting.

A.      Proper Attitude.  (1-7)  It must be to God and not for self.

B.       Change of Life.  (8-14)  Must result in righteousness.

8: Blessings

C.       Blessings to Come. (1-17)  Peace and prosperity for Zion.

D.      Fasts To Become Feasts.  (18-23)  God will be with his people.

9: King

 

SECTION II.  THE COMING MESSIANIC AGE

 

I.        ZION’S COMING KING. 

  1. Tyre and surrounding nations to be conquered by Greece (2-4), which will in turn also be conquered. (11-17)

King comes riding on an ass (Zech. 9:9-10 with Matt. 21:4-5; Jn. 12:15) [MESSIAH]

10: Sheep

  1. God’s neglected sheep will be gathered again.

11: Shepherds

  1. Woe to worthless Shepherds! (1-11, 15-17)

Betrayed for 30 pieces of silver (12-13 cf. Mt. 27:9-10 [MESSIAH]

II.      TWO IMPORTANT DAYS

  1. The Day of Jerusalem’s Siege. (1-9, 11-14)

Look on the one who they have pierced (10) [MESSIAH]

13: Fountain

Fountain for cleansing (1; cf. Tit 3:5-7; Eph 5:26) [MESSIAH]

In that day Idols, prophets and evil spirits to pass out of the land (2-5)

Wounded in the house of his friends (6) [MESSIAH]

Smite the shepherd and the flock scattered (7; Mt. 26:31, 56) [MESSIAH]

B.      The day of victory over the nations

His feet to stand on the Mount of Olives (4; cf. Acts 1:11-12) [MESSIAH]
